Furman head coach Clay Hendrix announced today the addition of three graduate transfers to the Paladins’ program. The trio includes quarterback Jake Garcia (Michigan), cornerback Aaron Davis (Bucknell), and offensive lineman Alofaletauia Maluia (West Georgia). All three players have one year of eligibility remaining.
- Garcia, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Whittier, Calif., spent the 2025 season at Michigan after passing for 1,426 yards and eight touchdowns while also rushing for a pair of scores at East Carolina in 2024. He began his collegiate career at the University of Miami in 2021, seeing action in one game that season before being sidelined due to injury. Garcia appeared in eight games for the Hurricanes in 2022, completing 68 of 115 passes for 803 yards and five touchdowns, including a scoring strike against Virginia (14-12 victory) in his first collegiate start. He did not play in 2023 at Missouri before transferring to East Carolina in January of 2024. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from ECU. Garcia enjoyed a successful senior season at Grayson (Ga.) High School, where he helped lead his squad to a 14-0 record and 7A state championship.
- Davis, a 5-foot, 190-pound native of Brandywine, Pa., spent his first two years at Wheeling (W.Va.) University, where in his second campaign he registered 42 tackles, four interceptions, and 21 pass breakups (NCAA all division leader) en route to earning all-conference honors. He transferred to Bucknell in 2024 and in two seasons with the Bison saw action in 20 games and logged 73 tackles, including 57 solo stops, to go along with four interceptions and two pass breakups. Among his four interceptions was a 79-yard “pick-six” in a 38-35 overtime win over Lehigh in 2024. Davis is slated to graduate next from Bucknell with a degree in economics.
- A native Henderson, Nev., the 6-foot-2, 290-pound Maluia (pronounced: Ah-loh-fah-lua-tau-ee-uh, MAH-loo-ee-uh), spent his first two years at Northern Arizona and the 2023 campaign at Utah Tech before transferring to West Georgia for the 2024 and ’25 seasons. At WGU he registered action in 17 contests, including the 2025 campaign that saw him log eight starts at guard. The Wolves posted an 8-3 record and finish ranked 24th in the AFCA FCS final poll last fall.
