RBC Heritage Round Three Summary
- Matt Fitzpatrick stumbled on the front side with three bogeys and made the turn at one over on the day. He recovered with two birdies and an eagle on the back nine for a three under 68.
- Just as he did on Friday, Fitzpatrick rolled in a birdie putt from off the 14th green, this one from 22 feet. On the next hole, Fitzpatrick chipped in from 30 feet for his eagle at the 15th.
- Fitzpatrick is at 17 under par, which was his 72-hole score in 2023 when he won in a playoff.
- Scottie Scheffler birdied five of his first six holes on Saturday and eventually caught up with Fitzpatrick for a few minutes. He dropped a shot at seven but got it back with a birdie at nine. His lone birdie on the back nine came at the par-3 16th.
- Scheffler finished with a seven under 64 for his 15th under par score in as many rounds in the RBC Heritage.
- Brian Harman, with his RBC Heritage career best round of eight under 63, sits in a tie for third at -13. He tied for third last year. Also at 13 under are Si Woo Kim and Sepp Straka.
- Last year’s playoff loser, Wofford product Andrew Novak, fired his second 65 of the week and is part of a large group at -12. Also at twelve under is first round leader Ludvig Aberg after a 68.
- Former Clemson star Lucas Glover is at nine under after a 68; Clemson product Jacob Bridgeman had a 66 and is at seven under; and Bluff resident Brian Campbell slipped to a 74 and is one over.
- Defending champion Justin Thomas had his best round of the tournament thus far, a one under 70, that left him in 80th place at eight over.
- Fitzpatrick and Scheffler will play their third round together this week and are scheduled for a 1:50 PM tee off on Sunday afternoon.
