



Florida 3-South Carolina 0 Game Summary
- South Carolina had another tremendous pitching performance from Amp Phillips and two relievers, but a lack of defensive and offensive support led to a second straight shutout defeat, and a third straight loss overall. The Gators have won seven straight overf the Gamecocks.
- Phillips (2-2) pitched six innings and did not allow an earned run. He allowed five hits and walked three while striking out three.
- The game was scoreless going to the bottom of the fourth. Phillips retired the first two hitters before yielding a walk on a 3-2 pitch. A steal of second followed, but it appeared Phillips would get out of the inning unscathed with a fly ball to right. But Patrick Evans dropped the ball for an error, and the run scored from second.
- The Gamecocks had a chance to answer in the top of the fifth. Evans led off with a double and went to third on a groundout to first. Logan Sutter walked to put runners on the corners with one out. However, Beau Hollins and Will Craddock both struck out swinging to end the inning.
- Phillips allowed a single in the fifth and a double in the sixth, but there was no harm, and he was lifted for Hayden Lee in the bottom of the seventh with the score still 1-0.
- Lee walked his first batter and was replaced by Zach Russell. He proceeded to walk a batter and hit a batter to load the bases. A sacrifice fly, another hit batter, and another sac fly scored two runs to make it 3-0 Florida.
- The Gamecocks had one final chance to break through on the scoreboard in the eighth. With one out, Hollins doubled. But Craddock grounded out to third, and Jack Reynolds struck out swinging. The Gamecocks went down in order in the ninth as their scoreless inning streak reached 23.
- Florida starter Aidan King (3-1) kept his ERA on the season at 0.00 by allowing two hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out nine. Two relievers allowed one hit and struck out three. The Gamecocks have struck out 26 times in the first two games of the series.
- USC is now 12-8 overall and 0-2 in the SEC. Florida is 17-3 and 2-0. The series finale will be Sunday with a 12:00 PM first pitch, an hour earlier than previously scheduled due to the threat of bad weather in Gainesville. The Gamecocks have not named a starter, while RHP Cooper Walls will start for the Gators.
