



#8-Clemson 13 — #3-Georgia Tech 7 (Game Summary)
- For the first time this weekend, Clemson got on the board first. Jarren Purify led off the bottom of the first inning with a double and then stole third as part of a double steal with Nate Savoie moving to second. Jacob Jarrell and Jack Crighton each followed with base hits to plate Purify and Savoie for an early 2-0 Clemson lead
- Georgia Tech got on the board in the top of the second with a solo home run from Will Baker. Then it took its first lead as part of a wild fifth inning. An inning in which momentum shifted from one dugout to the other
- The Yellow Jackets got the marathon frame going with a home run, a double, a single, and another home run to grab a 5-2 lead. Coupled with Baker’s home run earlier in the game, all five of Georgia Tech’s runs came home via the long ball. Then it was Clemson’s turn
- The Tigers sent twelve men to the plate in the bottom of the fifth, scoring eight runs on four hits. The big blows in the frame came off the bats of Jarrell, Crighton, Ty Dalley, and Tryston McCladdie. Jarrell blasted a two-run HR to pull the Tigers within 5-4. Two batters later, Crighton doubled into right field to tie the game at 5-5. After a passed ball flipped the lead back to the Tigers, Dalley bounced a two-run single through the infield to up the advantage to 8-5. McCladdie then doubled into the gap in right center for a 10-5 Clemson lead.
- All told, the fifth inning took 58 minutes, with the two teams combining for 12 runs, 8 hits, 3 HRs, 3 doubles, 2 HBPs, 4 BBs, a wild pitch, and a passed ball
- Clemson wasn’t done offensively, as the Tigers put the game away in the sixth. Dalley and Purify singled and walked to drive in two more runs before Savoie finished off the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center field
- Georgia Tech chiseled across a run in the seventh and a run in the eighth for the final margin of 13-7
- McCladdie had a huge day at the plate for the Tigers, collecting four hits, three doubles, and two RBIs. His four hits were a career-high, while the three doubles tied a Clemson record. Dalley and Jarrell each drove in three runs for the Tigers
- Clemson (16-4/1-2) will begin a five-game road trip at the College of Charleston on Tuesday, while Georgia Tech (17-3/4-2) will travel to Auburn on Tuesday
