Irmo OT Nate Carson is well into the next phase of his recruiting, and that’s scheduling visits for spring practices in March and April, and official visits in June. He has two visits set for the spring at this point, and four for June.
Carson said his first spring visit will be to Clemson on March 7th, the day of the Tigers’ key junior day. Carson also visited Clemson last April, for a camp last summer, and for a game last season. Clemson offensive line coach Matt Luke has made a concerted effort to put Clemson in the game with Carson.
“I can tell that they want me bad,” Carson said. “They are showing it a lot. I’m loving it. I work out with their players all the time (in Greenville). They tell me the good and the bad, everything I need to know.”
Carson has a second spring visit set with Nebraska for March 28th. He has not yet set a visit to South Carolina for a spring practice, but plans to so that he can watch the Gamecocks and their new offensive line coach, Randy Clements, who has been recruiting Carson hard since arriving in Columbia.
“I feel like our relationship has grown a lot, honestly,” Carson said. “I like him a lot. My parents like him a lot. He’s a very cool guy. He told us his resume, and it’s real good.”
Carson has had plenty of visits to USC. He was there last April, for a camp last June, for multiple games last season, and for a junior day in January.
Carson also has four of his official visits set. He goes to Clemson on May 29th, Texas A&M on June 5th, Tennessee on June 12th, and to USC on June 19th.
Right now, Carson calls Clemson and Tennessee his two favorites. Some other offers include Virginia, Miami, Kentucky, North Carolina, LSU, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Duke, NC State, Missouri, Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, Auburn, Florida State, and Alabama.
Carson said his previously set commitment date of July 3rd remains in place.
