Opening Day: #17-Clemson comes back to nip Army 3-2 behind strong relief pitching and a pair of big-time at bats (AUDIO)

Today’s game was the first ever meeting between Clemson and Army in baseball
Army got on the board first with an RBI single in the top of the second to lead 1-0
The Black Knights increased the lead to 2-0 in the 7th on a solo HR from catcher Jack Quinlan
The Tigers tied the game on a 2-run HR from Jacob Jarrell in the bottom of the 7th
Clemson got the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 8th inning on an RBI double from Nate Savoie
Savoie led the Tigers with three hits
Aidan Knaak got a no decision in his season-opening start for the Tigers. The right-hander gave up just 1 run (0 ER) on 3 hits with 6 K’s in three innings on the bump. Joe Allen tossed the final 1 & 2/3 innings to get the win for Clemson. Allen did not allow a run while surrendering two hits with three strikeouts. All told, Tiger pitching struck out 12 Army batters.
