South Carolina is trying to win a free agent recruiting battle with LSU and Ohio State for former Penn State DE Chaz Coleman (6-4 240). His former position coach at Penn State, Deion Barnes, is now with the Gamecocks. Hale McGranahan of TheBigSpur reported that a USC athletic department plane flew to Coleman’s hometown of Warren, OH, this week, ostensibly taking coaches to meet with Coleman, who has visited LSU and Ohio State. There’s been no reporting on a set visit with the Gamecocks. Coleman is considered to be one of the prime prospects on the free agent market. In nine games this season, Coleman had eight tackles and one sack.
DT Francis Brewu (6-1 280) of Pitt will visit South Carolina on Friday. He has been to Tennessee and Notre Dame, and he’s scheduled to visit Ohio State this weekend. He was an Honorable Mention All-ACC selection this season after totaling 35 tackles with six tackles for loss and one sack. He was a Freshman All-American in 2024. (Austin Price/On3)
