Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is quickly revamping his roster using an instrument he’d left in the toolbox for years … the transfer portal. On Wednesday, former Southern Miss defensive back Corey Myrick (6-2 200) committed to Clemson, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
After playing sparingly at Marshall, Myrick had a stellar campaign with the Golden Eagles in 2025. This past season, Myrick recorded 92 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble.
The Cincinnati native is the fifth Clemson transfer portal commitment and the second at safety, joining fellow Sun Belt alum, Old Dominion’s Jerome Carter. According to On3, Myrick also visited Louisville and had Georgia Tech, LSU, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, and Memphis in the mix as well.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2024): Saw action in 8 games as a reserve DB and special teams contributor. Finished with 3 tackles on the season – 2 of which came in the Southern Miss win. Also had a tackle at Ohio State.
HERD FILE: Myrick is a three-star prospect from Cincinnati who chose the Thundering Herd over 17 other FBS offers. The talented athlete is a three-sport standout at Cincinnati Colerain H.S. who brings twitch and playmaking ability to the Herd’s defensive backfield. Myrick also has experience at both cornerback and free safety, giving him a versatility that adds well for the Herd. Corey chose Marshall over offers from West Virginia, Colorado State, James Madison, Ohio, Toledo, Miami (Ohio), Charlotte and several others.
