South Carolina made its coaching additions official on Thursday as the Board of Trustees signed off on contracts for three newcomers: Kendal Briles from TCU as offensive coordinator, Randy Clements from TCU as offensive line coach, and Stan Drayton from Penn State to lead the running backs.

Briles arrives with the biggest deal of the group, agreeing to a three-year contract that averages $2.1 million annually. For perspective, former offensive coordinator Mike Shula earned $1.1 million in 2025. Drayton will hold the titles of assistant head coach for the offense and running backs coach, and his three-year contract is set at $775,000 a year. Clements joins the program on a two-year agreement worth $725,000 annually.

  1. With the addition of this upgraded staff, the offensive side of the ball has to be much better than it was under Shula, Loggains and Satterfield for sure. The bar isn’t very high and none of the 3 previous OCs brought anything innovative whatsoever to play calling, nor could any make in game adjustments. OL development was also completely missing under Teasley and Adkins, as was RB development under Blackwell and his predecessor. Hopefully Beamer will get the hell out of the way and let Briles, Clements and Drayton run a true wide-open offense! We’ve had our fill of failed attempts to run pro-style offenses in his 5-years thus far!
