STRecruiting: Georgia safety Kennedy Green considers South Carolina among his favorites after Saturday’s visit

South Carolina fans might be down about their football program following the loss to Clemson, but not key target 2027 SAF Kennedy Green (6-2 195) of Douglasville, GA. Green was among the mass of recruits in the stands on Saturday, and despite the defeat, his positive vibe toward the Gamecocks remains strong.

“South Carolina is definitely up there with all the top schools that I have,” Green said.  “They are definitely a front-runner for me.  I can see myself there.  With me being around everyone, and me being around the family that the Gamecocks have built with me, and being around the coaches and their families, it’s a great culture.  I could see myself playing there in the future.”

Green spoke with head coach Shane Beamer and secondary coach Torrian Gray.

“They tell me a lot how I’d be a difference maker on the back end of the defense playing safety, and the plays and opportunity I would have to make plays,” Green said.  “A lot about how they want me there, and how they are trying to build this family outside of football.  We have a great connection, and I have always had a great connection with those coaches since the process has started.”

Gray went even more in-depth about how he would deploy Green in his secondary starting in 2027.

“He does love me playing safety on the back end,” Green said.  “He likes my versatility, very physical in the run, and still being able to take the ball out of the air and catch those interceptions, and causing turnovers for the offense to get the ball back.  He definitely likes that about my game a lot.”

Green said Nebraska, Tennessee, North Carolina, Miami and Florida State are others sticking out to him at this point. He plans to get more specific about his favorite schools later this week after the signing period ends.

“Dropping a top six, just to slim things down and have everything under control and have my eyes on six schools that I feel would be a fit for me,” Green said.  “Then in the spring, go to those schools for spring practices and get a little more feel about how they practice.  Everything behind the scenes, and not just on game day, that’s going to definitely be a determining factor.  Hopefully, I’m ready to make a decision and commit, and in June, July, or sometime during the summer, right before I go into my senior season.”

Besides USC, Green also made it to games this season at Nebraska, Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami and Florida State.

This season, Green had 50 tackles with two interceptions and one pass deflection.
