STRecruiting: Clemson is on the board with first 2026 basketball commitment in 6-10 Will Stevens

Will Stevens

Clemson beat out Vanderbilt Saturday for the commitment from 6-10 Will Stevens of Lake Norman, NC. Stevens also considered South Carolina, Davidson and St. Mary’s after trimming his list. He did not take an official visit with the Gamecocks that was scheduled for earlier this month.

Stevens made his his official visit to Clemson in late August. Brad Brownell offered Stevens this past summer after watching him perform on the AAU circuit. That was the fourth visit for Stevens with Brad Brownell who convinced him Clemson was the right place for him.

“He thinks his program is a great fit for me. He thinks they will use me well. Generally, their bigs do good there, Stevens said following his official visit. “It’s just good to know that I’m welcomed down there and they are really excited about me.”

Stevens is excited himself about playing in Brownell’s offense which provides a lot of opportunities for the inside guys.

“I think it suits bigs,” he said. “They’re not afraid to use their bigs, just like triggers in their offense.  My friend (Trent Steinour) is down there right now actually, who’s a big, and he says he likes it.  I think he really likes it down there.  He’s really buying in. “They (showed me) ways that their offense uses their bigs and where I would be, and that includes making reads from the top of the key and shot versatility.”

Stevens also had offers from Virginia, NC State, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Iowa and the College of Charleston.
