STRecruiting: Clemson gets the win over Texas this time with commitment from Georgia DE Dre Quinn

Clemson lost to Texas in the CFP last season, and maybe the Tigers will get the chance to avenge that this season. But at least on this Thursday, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney can take some satisfaction in a high profile recruiting victory over Steve Sarkisian.

DE Dre Quinn (6-4 217) of Buford, GA, Thursday announced for the Tigers over the Longhorns. Georgia Tech, Georgia and Notre Dame were other schools on his short list. Quinn made his official visit to Clemson the first weekend in June. He also visited for a junior day in March, and he was in for a game in November.

“When I first got there, Dabo was very welcoming,” Quinn said after making his announcement on the On3 YouTube Channel. “All the players, it felt like I’ve known them for years, the way they treated me. They are big on faith. They are big on life after football. This just fit me from every aspect. They put players in the league. Great development. Great education. I just felt like that was the place for me.”

In 11 games last season, Quinn totaled 42 tackles with 9.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks according to MaxPreps stats.

Quinn is the second defensive end commitment for the 2026 class, and he gives the Tigers a total of 19 commitments in the class.
