They already knew the opponent; now the Tigers and Gamecocks know the game times

Cade Klubnik and the Tigers will face LSU at 7:30pm on Saturday, August 30th (Travis Bell/SIDELINE CAROLINA)

With the NFL set to release its 2025 schedule on Wednesday, the SEC and ACC thought it would be a good idea to get a jump start on the party. Brett McMurphy of the Action Network reported Tuesday that the Tigers and Gamecocks will be featured attractions over Labor Day weekend.

When Clemson hosts LSU, it will be the first meeting between the programs on a campus site after previous games in the Sugar and Peach Bowls and the 2019 season’s national championship, the last matchup and an LSU win, 42-25, in the Superdome in New Orleans. Both sets of Tigers are expected to be preseason Top 10 teams.

Meanwhile, the August 31st Aflac Kickoff Game will be the 21st get-together between South Carolina and Virginia Tech. The Gamecocks own the all-time series with an 11-7-2 record. However, none of the players in this year’s game were alive for the most recent meeting, a 28-21 triumph by USC in September of 1991.

Darlington Raceway is also on the calendar that weekend as the “Track Too Tough to Tame” will christen the 2025 NASCAR playoffs with the annual running of the “Southern 500” at 6pm on Sunday night.
