All this week, sports radio shows across the country are filling their lineups with guests to preview the NFL draft. However, few have the resources that we do at SportsTalk. Not only is our guy a former first-round selection, but he is also the inspiration for our call-in number. Of course we’re referencing former Gamecock and New England Patriot Rick Sanford, number 25.
Sanford, who became the first 1st-round draft pick in Carolina football history, was selected 25th overall by New England in the 1979 draft. His career included an All-Pro season in 1983, along with setting the longest interception return record in Chicago’s Soldier Field with a 99-yard pick six off of Bears QB Jim McMahon.
On Tuesday, he joined SportsTalk to discuss the upcoming draft, which starts on Thursday in Green Bay. Sanford discussed where he believes several USC and Clemson players might land, along with sharing his thoughts as to whether taking Cam Ward being selected first overall makes sense for the Tennessee Titans.
