Spring football practice at South Carolina has turned the corner for home with the spring game a week from Friday. Last Saturday the Gamecocks held their first major scrimmage and they will hold another one this Saturday.

Tuesday afternoon head coach Shane Beamer met with the media to give an update. Some of his key comments included:

Very pleased with today’s practice considering guys were coming off a couple of off days following the Saturday scrimmage.

Really likes the way this group has been working, excited about what they have to look forward to the rest of spring practice, Ladies Day is coming up this Saturday and he’s excited about that.

He’s unhappy with some of the reporting from the brief media viewing sessions that included a depth chart saying there is no depth chart, also pointed out some of the misinformation from “insiders” on Saturday’s scrimmage including reporting about freshman WR Jayden Sellers performance, except he was sick and not in the scrimmage.

Need to get the defensive tackle position and the edge position solidified, likes the talent he has at edge but they’ve still got to find some answers there due to the injury to Brown and the departure of Gregory.

Reno and Noland did some good things in scrimmage, today Woods led a nice drive at the end to get a field goal, battle for #2 QB continues, starting QB is the one known spot on the depth chart.

One of the real positives from the scrimmage was the way they punted and kicked the ball.
