The Tigers extended oner program record with an eighth straight ACC road win, and they extended a second with their 17th overall ACC victory. They also extended their current overall winning streak to seven.
The Tigers had a great first half building a 49-39 lead at intermission. That matched their season high for points in a first half. They shot 59% over the first 20 minutes and made a half-dozen three-point shots by six different players.
However, Boston College made things tougher in the second half. The Tigers dropped off to 38.5% shooting and made just 2-10 from deep. They also committed 11 turnovers and 11 fouls.
The Tigers produced their largest lead of the second half at 56-45 with 16:53 remaining. The Eagles then went on a 15-6 run over the next six minutes to close to within 62-60. A pair of layups and a three put Clemson back up by nine at 69-60.
Agan, the Eagles rallied to cut the deficit to three points on two different occasions, the last one at 72-69 with 5:32 left. That’s when Clemson clamped down defensively and did not allow another BC point the rest of the way.
The Tigers scored the last six points of the game while the Eagles missed their last five shots. They went the last 10:51 making just one of their final 13 field goal attempts.
Jaeden Zackery, who transferred to Clemson from BC in the offseason, led a balanced Clemson scoring sheet with 21 points. Chase Hunter followed with 18 points. Ian Schieffelin added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Viktor Lakhin had a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Clemson finished with a 50% shooting performance with eight three pointers, and they were 12-16 at the line. They did suffer 13 turnovers, the first time in four games they’ve had double-digit turnovers. However, BC only gained nine points from the turnovers.
The Tigers are 25-5 and 17-2 in the ACC and will close out the regular season at home Saturday night against Virginia Tech.
