Clemson on Monday added a bigger piece to its secondary of the future with a commitment from SAF Jarrell Chandler (6-3 200) of Knoxville. Chandler chose the Tigers of Tennessee, Miami, and Vanderbilt.
Because of his size, some were recruiting Chandler as a linebacker, but Clemson zeroed in on him as a safety, and laid out plans for him at that position.
Chandler also held offers from Mississippi State, Florida, Ole Miss, Florida State, Michigan, Georgia, Colorado, Virginia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, Missouri, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, SMU, Louisville, and others.
He visited Clemson for a spring practice in early March, and he is scheduled for his official visit with the Tigers on May 29th.
“Clemson is just somewhere that I believe I can be developed to the next level as a player and a person,” Chandler said in making his announcement on the Rivals YouTube channel. “I just thought it was a great fit defensively and off the field. They are going to get somebody that’s going to give everything they have on the field and leave no doubt.”
Last season, Chandler recorded 109 tackles with 13 tackles for loss, 23 pass deflections, and one interception.
Chandler is Clemson’s eighth commitment for the 2027 class and the second for the safety position.
