If the College Football Playoff were to start on Wednesday, Clemson would be the first team out of the 12-team field. The CFP Selection Committee Tuesday night issued their new rankings and placed the Tigers at #12, an improvement of five spots from last week.

Included in the 11 teams ahead of the Tigers are four teams that could win conference titles, including Group of Five leader Boise State which is ranked 11th. The fifth potential champ right now is 16th ranked Arizona State, which would be the #12 seed.

South Carolina also moved up in the CFP Top 25. The Gamecocks improved from 18th to 15th. Alabama at #13 and Ole Miss at #14 stand between the Gamecocks and the top 12.

Oregon, Ohio State, Texas and Penn State remain the top four teams. Notre Dame moved up to the 5th spot.
