SAF Steve Miller (6-2 215) of Greensboro, GA was once committed to Mississippi State, but he’s been on the board with Southern Cal since October 14th. But he’s still not done.
Miller made an official visit to USC (Columbia edition) last weekend. He also visited the Gamecocks for a game earlier in the November. Now, the Gamecocks are battling with the Trojans to win Miller over by Signing Day.
“The visit to South Carolina was great,” Miller said. “I loved the atmosphere. The brotherhood is different. Everybody cares for each other and everybody wants to help another. At South Carolina, there’s a lot of people who you can look up to who might help me.”
One of those is an old friend from the neighborhood.
“Jalon Kilgore, he’s from the same hometown I’m from, so he would give me somebody to look up to,” Miller said. “He was my host. He was telling me that if you come in and do what you are supposed to do everything will be cool.”
USC secondary coach Torrian Gray loves his safeties to big tall and fast. Miller feels he fits that description, and Gray has told himi how much he likes his game.
“That I’m just like a ball-hog,” Miller said. “I’m long, and they like long and rangy DBs. Their safety room is deep and they all are pro level. It’s good just to look up to the safety room with me playing safety.”
The official visit worked out well for all parties and the Gamecocks will figure into Miller’s final decision come next week.
“They are a top school,” he said. “I’ve got an OV next weekend to Southern Cal, but South Carolina is definitely going to be a top school for me. We’ll see on Signing Day. They (Southern Cal) definitely are still ranked number one on my board, but it’s either going to be out of them or South Carolina.”
The Gamecocks have also been recruiting Miller’s teammate, DT Kevin Wynn, who has been committed to Florida State. Wynn plans to visit Georgia Friday and Florida State Saturday.
