The Bulldogs believe they have their bite back. After suffering through an 0-11 campaign in the first season under Maurice Drayton, The Citadel is ready for a bounce back season.
The arrival of quarterback Johnathan Bennett from Liberty is expected to spark the offense which will retain its triple-option principles while expanding the passing game. There are key returnees on offense, and the defense also added a transfer defensive tackle to the returning group.
Drayton, a Citadel grad, owned the winless season of 2023, but he never lost his team. He said that was evident by the fact his players practiced as hard in week nine as they did in week one.
The Bulldogs believe the hard lessons learned last season will benefit them in 2024 when their season opens against Charleston Southern on August 31st in the first annual Lowcountry Boil Bowl.
