STRecruiting Notebook: Looking back at the weekend of OVs, and what’s ahead this weekend; USC misses on a top target; In-state prospects make commitments

South Carolina and Clemson had a combined seven official visits over the weekend. As of late Sunday night, none of the visitors had gone public with a commitment.

South Carolina hosted four official visits over the weekend:
• WR Amare Patterson of Bluffton…He has also been to Georgia Tech and Georgia. He has a June 20th commitment date.
• DT Antwan McKoy of St. Paul’s, NC…He has also visited Georgia and is expected to choose between the Gamecocks and Bulldogs, but he also plans to visit Miami this coming weekend. He has a commitment date of June 27th.
• DE Chris Whitehead of Chesapeake, VA…He has also been to LSU and Virginia Tech and is scheduled for Ohio State this coming weekend. He has not set a commitment date.
• OL Clayton Lee of Callahan, FL…He has also visited UCF and Virginia Tech and plans to visit NC State this weekend. He has not set a commitment date.

Clemson had three official visitors over the weekend:
• DT Seth Tillman of South Pointe…He has also been to USC, Michigan, and Georgia, and this was his final scheduled OV with a July 11th commitment date. There has been reporting that Clemson and Michigan are the two at the top with Tillman.
• DT Segun Alexander of Rabun Gap, GA…He has also been to Cal and Texas A&M and is scheduled for Notre Dame this coming weekend.
• LB RJ Hudson of Chesterfield, VA…He has also visited Maryland and has a commitment date of June 19th.

South Carolina target DL Nate Kamba of Charlotte committed to Auburn after visiting this weekend. Kamba visited USC last weekend, and those were his only two official visits.

SAF Davion Jones of Cornelius, NC visited LSU over the weekend. He has also been to Indiana, Georgia, and Auburn, and he’ll visit South Carolina this weekend. He has set July 26th for his commitment date.

DE Marquis Evans of Birmingham, who made an official visit to Florida over the weekend, told the 247 Florida site that he will make his official visit to USC this coming weekend. He has also visited Tennessee, Miami, and Auburn.

Paul Strelow of TigerIllustrated, one who had projected Sean Fox to Clemson, has rescinded that. Per Strelow, Kentucky now looks like the destination for Fox and his brother, Steven, a safety.

One-time South Carolina target WR Brody Knowles is down to Arkansas, Illinois, and TCU with a June 22nd commitment date.

South Carolina offered 2028 DB Zion Dobson of Kernersville, NC, 2028 WR Isaiah Brown of Springfield, GA, 2028 WR Emiere Lemons of Cleveland, 2028 OL Austin Ballou of Charlotte, 2028 DE Darias Johnson of Raleigh, 2029 DE Kaiden Okam of Charlotte, and 2029 WR Mason Pearsall Brown of Cornelius, NC.

DB Braelan Lang (6-0 180) of Conyers, GA committed to Coastal Carolina.

DL Monyah Johnson (6-2 265) of LaGrange, GA committed to Coastal Carolina.

DL Cassius Burch (6-0 275) of Tallahassee committed to Coastal Carolina.

Oceanside Collegiate WR Anthony Williams committed to North Carolina.

Irmo WR Ethan Singletary committed to East Carolina.

Westwood DE AJ Veal Jr. committed to East Carolina.

2029 OL Jordan Lewis of Dorman was offered by Florida State

Scheduled commitment announcements this week:

  • USC target WR Amare Patterson June 20th

Baseball News:

On Friday, RHP Brock Johnson of Central Arizona JC committed to South Carolina.  He’s a native of Powell, NY.  In two seasons, he was 15-7 with one save and a 3.45 ERA.   He had 162 strikeouts in 148.2 innings.

Former Clemson pitcher Noah Samol is headed to Austin Peay.

South Carolina catcher Reese Moore is moving on to Nebraska.

Former USC RHP Josh Gregoire and infielder Jack Reynolds committed to Louisiana Tech, according to BleedTechBlue. 

South Carolina LHP Bryce Navarre is in the free agent portal. He made one appearance this season.

Coastal Carolina LHP Dominick Carbone is in the free agent portal. The Preseason All-American missed the 2026 season with an injury. Posted a 2.36 ERA in 2025 with 52 Ks and five saves.
