CHARLOTTE: SMU is one of the new kids on the block in the expanded ACC, and the Mustangs are certainly the best of the three new programs entering the league. They blew up last season with an 11-3 record with a dynamic offense that averaged 39 points per game and an improved defense that yielded 18 points per game. The Mustangs have an athletic quarterback and a head coach with a mind for offense. They are coming to light up some scoreboards around their new league.
