Another top prospect from the state of Georgia is headed to South Carolina. LB AJ Holloway (6-3 225) of Buford announced his commitment to the Gamecocks Friday afternoon.; Holloway made his official visit to USC last weekend and came out of the visit with the Gamecocks firmly in the lead.

“What stood out to me most was meeting all the players and most of the staff,” Holloway said earlier this week.  “I didn’t really get a chance to meet much of the staff at all my last visit.  I got to experience more all around Columbia. It was nice actually seeing the life outside of just football, hanging out with the guys and all that. I just thought it was amazing.  It was a wonderful visit.”

Holloway also loved what he heard from head coach Shane Beamer and defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Clayton White about how he could be an impact player for them at one of the linebacker spots.

“They talked to me about being an important part of their defense,” Holloway said.  “They certainly need a Mike linebacker like me, so it was nice to have a conversation with them, go through film on that and talk about football and see how I fit in on the defense.  They were showing me how a couple of the guys on the team right now and how I could fill in for them. How I could fill out their defense, and they also showed me I was one of their top linebackers on the board.”

Holloway also made an official visit to Louisville. He was scheduled to visit Georgia Tech this weekend and Kansas next weekend. He also had offers from Baylor, North Carolina, Indiana, Auburn, Duke, Mississippi State, Maryland, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky and Colorado.

Holloway is the third Georgia native to commit to the Gamecocks this week coming off last weekend’s official visits. He’s the 11th commitment for the class and the second linebacker. Last season he had 145 tackles with four sacks and one interception.
