South Carolina is scheduled for unofficial visits this weekend from its two placekicking targets for the 2025 class. London Bironas of Brentwood, TN has confirmed his plans to visit. Max Kelly of Gallatin, TN is the other kicker the Gamecocks have offered by head coach Shane Beamer and special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis.
“I’m pretty much coming to camp and getting to meet Coach Beamer and talk to everyone besides coach Joe DeCamillis,” Bironas said. “We’ve been staying in touch figuring out logistics and catching up on what’s going on in my recruiting and all that.”
Bironas said DeCamillis has laid out for him exactly what the situation is when it comes to the recruiting of kickers.
“It’s me and one other guy,” Bironas said. “They told me that they love me and this one other guy. We’re the two guys they want. If we both happen to commit, since we’ve both got full scholarship offers, then they’d take both of us. As far as where they fit with me, I would say they are somewhere in my top four. I’ll really have those top three sorted out by the end of my visits this summer.”
Tennesseee, Princeton and Oklahoma are the three other schools Bironas is most interested in. Right now the only one he plans to see on an official visit is Princeton this summer. After that, he hopes to make his decision.
“I’d say sometime probably in July,” he said. “Depending on how clear I feel like these visits make it for me. Might be early July or maybe I’ll decide I need a little bit more time. I do want to commit before my senior season starts to kind of take some pressure off the season and feel good about where I’m going and take care of my spot.”
Bironas is the son of the late NFL star kicker Rob Bironas. Last season he made seven field goals with a long of 45 yards.
