Linebacker Debo Williams arrived at South Carolina in 2021 with a reputation for making plays. As a high school senior in Delaware, Williams made 153 tackles. His first year of college ball at Delaware was wiped out by Covid, so when he transferred to USC for the 2021 season, big things were expected.
Williams contributed from the start, primarily on special teams. He eventually worked his way into the linebacker rotation, and is now considered one of the best linebackers in the SEC. Last season, Williams had 113 tackles, nine tackles for loss, one sack and four pass deflections. He was named First Team All-SEC.
After toying with the idea of moving on to the NFL, Williams decided to return for another season in Columbia. Wednesday, he met with the media and made it clear his goal is to be the best linebacker, not just in the SEC, but in the country.
