Tim Beck prepares the Chanticleers to march with Army (AUDIO) #CCU

Ethan Vasko will make his third straight start this Saturday at Army (CCU Football)

If you’re going to research college football history, the United States Military Academy isn’t a bad place to start. Whether it’s officially three or five national championships, Army has a rich history on the gridiron. From President Dwight D. Eisenhower to Heisman Trophy winners Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis to their home venue of Michie Stadium, West Point oozes tradition.

This Saturday, Coastal Carolina will get a taste of that history as the Chanticleers travel to the banks of the Hudson River to square off with the Black Knights at noon on the CBS Sports Network. CCU made a little history of its own in last year’s matchup with Army in Conway. Their 38-28 victory was the 150th in program history, helping to kick off the 20th season of Coastal Carolina football.

On Wednesday, head coach Tim Beck held his weekly press conference to preview this weekend’s road trip to New York. Beck discussed how important and tough this weekend’s game will be while informing the media that Ethan Vasko, “as of now”, will remain the starting quarterback in place of both Grayson McCall and Jarrett Guest, who are still recovering from injuries.
