There’s no question USC quarterback Spencer Rattler and receiver Xavier Legette have a special connection. Legette, when healthy, has been the go-to guy for Rattler. But with no Juice Wells, and with Ahmarean Brown and Trey Knox in and out of the lineup of late due to injuries, Rattler has needed others to step up in the passing game. Answering the bell against Jackonsvolle State was tight end Josh Simon.

Simon was targed 11 times and had a season high seven catches for 64 yards, including a long gain of 20 yards. He gave Rattler the complimentary receiver needed to take some of the coverage attention off of Legette.

This week Simon, a South Carolina native and transfer from Western Kentucky, talked with the media regarding his expanding role in the ofense.
