  • Gamecock pitchers only allowed two earned runs on six hits and struck out 15 on Saturday. They did walk five.
  • The Longhorns scored a pair of runs in the top of the first off of Gamecock starter Amp Phillips. A walk with one out was followed by a passed ball on a swinging strikeout putting runners on the corners. Following a steal of second, Anthony Pack Jr. doubled to left to score both runs, one of which was unearned.

  • Texas starter Dylan Volantis (4-0) retired the first 12 Gamecocks he faced. The 13th, Talmadge LeCroy, took him deep for what turned out to be the Gamecocks’ only run of the game. It was his seventh home run of the season. Volantis then struck out the next three hitters swinging. He left with one out in the sixth after allowing the one run on two hits and striking ot six.
  • Texas threatened in the sixth with runners on the corners and two outs, but Zach Russell replaced Logan Prisco and got a fly ball to end the inning.

  • That was the last chance for the Gamecocks as they didn’t get a hit against Longhorn relievers over the final three innings, and their only baseunner reached in the eighth on a hit by pitch. Three Texas releivers did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out nine over the final 3.1 innings
  • Texas added one more insurance run in the ninth on Carson Tinney’s third home run of the series.
