Coastal Carolina head football coach Tim Beck isn’t often given to hyperbole. Ask him a question, and he’ll shoot you a straight answer. So, when he says Saturday’s matchup with Texas State should be exciting, take him at his word.
“The quarterback is a veteran player; he started at LSU, went to Auburn, and here. He’s played in some pressure-packed moments and situations,” Beck said in describing Bobcat quarterback TJ Finley. “It’s going to be a tremendous game. If you’re close to Conway, I’d come to it, cause it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
It may be a lot of fun for the fans, but the game could be a nightmare for the defensive coordinators. The Bobcats lead the Sun Belt Conference in both scoring and total offense, while the Chanticleers are third in total offense but only seventh in scoring, potentially putting added pressure on the CCU defense to make a few additional stops.
Beck also addressed quarterback Grayson McCall’s injury status during his Wednesday press conference, as well as discussing who might be behind center this coming Saturday afternoon in Conway.
