USC basketball coach Lamont Paris was one of the first coaches to appear Wednesday morning at SEC Media Day in Birmingham, and the first question he took from the floor was about the last place prediction for his team by the SEC media. Paris was prepared for the question.
Paris adroitly pointed out that not a single prediction for last year’s SEC finish, which also had the Gamecocks in last place, was correct. So, he had no reason to believe this year’s will be. He pointed out that his team is much better across the board, is as much more veteran team, and is loaded with three-point shooters.
