USC coach Shane Beamer Sunday night reviewed the game effort his Gamecocks displayed as 27.5-point underdogs to Georgia Saturday in Athens. Leading 14-3 at the half, the Gamecocks could not maintain their high level of play in the second half eventually falling to the top-ranked Bulldogs 24-14.
Beamer announced freshman offensive lineman Markee Anderson would miss the rest of the season for a knee issue that will require surgery. Beamer said it’s not a major problem but something that has bothered Anderson since August and has not healed properly.
Beamer, as he said after the game, reiterated that he won’t have an update on the health status of receiver Juice Wells until Tuesday. Wells left the game with a foot injury right after scoring the Gamecocks’ first touchdown in the opening quarter.
The Gamecocks will host Mississippi State Saturday night. They are 4.5-point favorites.
