The football community in South Carolina was stunned Thursday morning with the news of the death of former USC defensive line coach Brad Lawing at the age of 65. Lawing had been dealing with some health issues in recent years and had recently received some medical attention. Funeral plans are pending and could be announced sometime on Friday.
Lawing coached two stints at USC under Sparky Woods and Steve Spurrier. He was synonymous with the recruitment of some of the top players to come through the program during his time, and in developing some of the top defensive players in school history.
Thursday night on SportsTalk, former USC defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson, who worked with Lawing, shared some of his memories of their days together.
