It was a big day on the Clemson campus Friday as the football team squared off with Tennessee in the Orange Bowl, and the men’s basketball team hosted NC State at Littlejohn Coliseum. But don’t tell Brad Brownell’s club that they were an appetizer for Dabo Swinney’s squad. Hunter Tyson scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Tigers beat NC State 78-64 to improve to 3-0 in ACC play. Clemson, which is now 11-3 overall, will travel to Virginia Tech next Wednesday.
Clemson was never really challenged by the Wolfpack, leading for over 31 minutes, while holding NC State at bay from the free throw line. The Tigers shot 92% (22-of-24) from the charity stripe, with Tyson contributing a perfect 9-of-9 performance.
