Linebacker Jaden Robinson (6-1 215) of Lake City, FL announced his commitment to the Florida Gators via his Twitter page, Wednesday. Robinson had previously committed to the Gamecocks on Independence Day after taking multiple visits to the Columbia campus.
Florida was not in the “Top 4” Robinson had announced before making his pledge to Shane Beamer and USC. That group included Kentucky, Michigan and Maryland.
Robinson made official visits to USC, Kentucky and Maryland in June. He also visited USC for a junior day in January and for the spring game in April. But Florida continued to recruit Robinson with effort, and he visited there unofficially in July.
With Robinson’s switch to the Gators, South Carolina is down to one linebacker in the 2023 recruiting class: Grayson Howard (6-3, 223, Jacksonville).
Also Wednesday, the Gamecocks missed out on a major target when WR Carmelo Taylor of Roanoke, VA announced a commitment to Penn State over USC and Virginia Tech.
