#STRecruiting: Jackson to stay in ’23 class per his coach

GG Jackson

6-10 GG Jackson of Ridge View has had several decisions to make over the last few weeks, such as to commit to a college or go pro, or to stay in the 2023 class or reclassify to 2022. One of those decisions has been made. According to Ridge View coach Yerrick Stoneman, Jackson has decided to stay in the 2023 class.

As for the college commitment part of the process, Stoneman has no firm date from Jackson on an announcement. One is expected in the next week or so. He said they are planning a formal announcement event at the school.

Stoneman said Jackson wants to make his decision now so he can focus on his upcoming AAU season. Coaches aren’t able to see Jackson until the dead period ends April 7th, thus new USC coach Lamont Paris has not yet met with Jackson and his mother.

Paris met last Monday with Jackson and his father, but meeting with his mother is considered an important part of the recruiting process for the new Gamecock’s head man.

Former Gamecock coach Frank Martin, who had built a close relationship with Jackson and his family, has also gotten back involved. He offered Jackson an offer from Massachusetts over the weekend.
