
Clemson devastated Hartford in a doubleheader sweep at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, Saturday. The Tigers won the first game 13-3 before taking the nightcap 28-3. Over the three-game set, the Tigers outscored Hartford 47-7.
Cooper Ingle and Max Wagner pummeled Hawks pitching in Game 2, combining for 11 RBIs, three doubles and eight runs scored. Chad Fairey starred in the opener, driving in five runs and homering for the first time this season, a two-run shot in the sixth inning.
The Clemson bullpen shined, giving up just two runs in nine innings spanning both games. Ty Olenchuk picked up the Game 1 victory in relief of Nick Clayton. Olenchuk (1-0) didn’t surrender a run in three innings of work. Nick Hoffman (1-0) won Game 2, holding the Hawks to two runs over five innings.
Clemson’s eight-game homestand will conclude Tuesday against USC Upstate. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
