Danny Morrison previews #Clemson-Georgia and ECU-App. State (AUDIO)

Former Panthers President Danny Morrison is now the Executive Director for the Charlotte Sports Foundation, the group responsible for organizing the Duke’s Mayo Classic.

Danny Morrison joined SportsTalk to preview the upcoming Clemson-Georgia and East Carolina-Appalachian State matchups. Both games will be played at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium as part of the Duke’s Mayo Classic.

The event is under the direction of the Charlotte Sports Foundation. Morrison, the foundation’s Executive Director, has a prominent tie to the Charlotte area after serving as President of the Carolina Panthers from 2008-2017.

Morrison, a former college basketball player at Wofford, would go on to become the school’s Athletic Director and senior vice president. Between stops with the Terriers and Panthers, Morrison spent time as commissioner of the Southern Conference and Athletic Director for TCU.

East Carolina and Appalachian State will open this year’s Duke’s Mayo Classic when they lock horns, Sept. 2nd. Clemson and Georgia, both ranked in the top five of the Associated Press poll, will kick off their highly anticipated matchup two days later on Sept. 4th. Both games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Morrison touched on a number of topics in his visit with SportsTalk, including how the event was organized, what fans can expect on game days and what the future holds for the Duke’s Mayo Classic.
