AP voters drop #Clemson after first loss, Coastal remains the same

Notre Dame players rush the field after the upset of Clemson Saturday night (ACC provided)

Clemson’s 36 game regular season winning streak and 28 game ACC winning streak came to an end late Saturday night with that double-overtime loss at Notre Dame. As a result, no AP voter gave the Tigers a first place vote, but they did vote the Tigers high enough to keep them in the top four. In fact, the Tigers are 4th in this week’s ranking trailing new #1 Alabama and new #2 Notre Dame. Ohio State remained at #3. 59 of the 62 first place votes went to the Crimson Tide. USC slayer Texas A&M moved up two spots to #5. Coastal Carolina, which moved to 7-0 with a win over South Alabama, remained #15 with one voter ranking the Chants as high as #11. The coaches matched the AP with their top four teams but have Florida 5th and A&M 6th. The coaches ranked Coastal 17th.
