USC 9-Arkansas 4 Game Summary
- The Gamecocks scored in each of the first four frames in building a 5-0 lead. Beau Hollins got the first run home in the first with a base loaded chopper back to the pitcher.
- Tyler Bak made it 2-0 in the bottom of the second with an RBI single.
- The Gamecocks played power ball for their next three runs…Talmadge LeCroy with a solo blast in the third, and in the fourth, Jake Randolph and Tyler Bak each went deep to make it a 5-0 game.
- The Razorbacks scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to cut the lead to 5-2. The Gamecocks responded in the bottom of the sixth as Randolph launched a two-run homer and Bak had an RBI double for an 8-3 lead.
- An Arkansas homer in the top of the seventh and a Gamecock run on a throwing error by the third baseman in the bottom of the inning closed out the scoring.
- In the ninth, Arkansas had first and second with no one out. Parker Marlatt came in from the bullpen and got a popup to short and two strikeouts to end the game.
- Brandon Stone (3-1) started for USC and pitched into the sixth. He allowed two runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked two. Four other relievers followed Stone until Marlatt finished up.
- Bak and Randolph each had three hits and three RBIs.
- The win is the first for Monte Lee as a head coach at South Carolina. That gives him wins as a head coach at USC, Clemson and the College of Charleston.
- The Gamecocks are now 13-12 overall and 1-5 in the SEC. They will play North Carolina in Charlotte on Tuesday night before traveling to Georgia for their next SEC series starting Friday night.
