Dabo Swinney wants to return Clemson football to its championship days of old. To help do that, he’s turning to old friends and old faces. First, he hired his former offensive coordinator, Chad Morris, to revitalize that unit. And reportedly, he is bringing back Rich Bisaccia as his new Special Teams Coordinator.
Both TigerNet and TigerIllustrated reported Monday afternoon that Bisaccia would be the hire. A source confirmed for SportsTalk that Bisaccia is coming to Clemson. Apparently, an agreement had been in place, but Bisaccia needed to wait until March 1st to finalize it because of his NFL pension.
On February 17th, Bisaccia resigned as the Assistant Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator with the Green Bay Packers. He had been with the Packers since 2022.
Bisaccia has an extensive NFL background, including a shirt stint as the interim coach of the Raiders. However, he got his coaching start at his alma mater, Wayne State, before joining the Joe Morrison staff at South Carolina as a grad assistant in 1988. After Morrison’s sudden passing and the hiring of Sparky Woods, Bisaccia remained on the Gamecock staff until Wood was fired after the 1993 season.
Bisaccia then joined the Tommy West staff at Clemson, where he coached running backs and the special teams. After West was fired following the 1998 season, Bisaccia joined the staff at Ole Miss, where he coached running backs and special teams before jumping to the NFL in 2002 with Tampa Bay, where he helped win a Super Bowl in his first season.
