Over the weekend, the news was broken by JC Shurburtt of InsideTheGamecocks that offensive tackle Jacarrius Peak had suffered a knee injury that could sideline him for sometime. No timetable was given, but there was speculation Peak could miss some of the upcoming season.
Sunday night, USC coach Shane Beamer issued a statement to media outlets through a school spokesperson on Peak’s status:
“Jacarrius Peak suffered a lower body injury earlier this week and will miss spring practice. We expect that he will be available this season.”
Chris Low of On3 reported over the weekend that Peak was injured while playing pickup basketball.
Peak, a free agent signee from NC State, is considered one of the top off-season acquisitions for the Gamecocks, and was expected to take over at the left tackle position.
