STRecruiting: DT Jesiah Fields of Charlotte has two junior day visits set for later this month, and one will be to South Carolina

South Carolina is in the top three right now with DT Jesiah Fields 6-4 245) of Charlotte. He also likes NC State and Georgia a lot at this point, and there is no favorite among the three.

South Carolina defensive line coach Travian Robertson has resumed his conversations with Fields after recovering from his injuries suffered in a car crash in late August. In his absence, his assistant, Jordan Dove, picked up the recruiting of Fields and held things together until Robertson could get back to it again. So, Fields saw no drop off in the interest from the Gamecocks.

“It’s going good.  The communication is still there,” Fields said.  “I’d say it’s been going real good so far.  They actually came by the school last Thursday or Friday.  It was coach Jordan Dove. I’m starting to talk with Coach T-Rob now that he’s back, but it’s mainly been Coach Dove.”

Fields said Dove has driven home the point that Robertson made to him earlier, that he’s a guy that they could use on the inside of their defensive line.

“They still want me at the three-technique position,” Fields said.   “They said that would be a good fit for me for them.  They want me to come down and check them out some more and come down for a junior day.”

And Fields will be down for the USC junior day on January 25th. The day before that, he will be at NC State. He also plans to visit Georgia, but not until the summer.

Fields is still open to other programs, though he has his top three: the Gamecocks, Wolfpack, and Bulldogs. Some of his other offers are Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Southern Cal, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan State, Arkansas, Georgia Tech and Indiana.

In eight games last season, Fields had 25 tackles with 12 tackles for loss and three sacks, according to MaxPreps stats.
