Instead, he went on a visit to Nebraska, and soon after, he announced a commitment to the Cornhuskers. As a junior college prospect, Burburija cannot sign until February 4th, so, as long as he wanted to be recruited, he remained an open target.
Clemson continued to recruit the First Team Junior College All-American, and on Monday afternoon, Burburija announced a change in plans with Clemson now his destination.
Sean Callahan, the publisher of the Nebraska On3 website, reported that Burburija received a recent math grade that left him short of qualifying to enroll this semester at Nebraska, and he has to redo that course. He also reported that Clemson came in with more NIL money that the Cornhuskers did not want to match.
This season in helping to lead his team to the JC National Championship, Burburija totaled 45 tackles with 19.5 tackles for loss and 11 sacks. He had 78 tackles and 14 sacks for his two seasons at Iowa Western.
Some of his other offers for the native of Crystal Lake, IL included Arkansas, Purdue, Michigan State, Texas Tech, Iowa, Penn State and Auburn.
Burburija is the 22nd non-free agent commitment or signee for Clemson’s 2026 class, and the second defensive tackle.
