STRecruiting: Business getting done after dark by South Carolina front office with a contract agreement with NC State OT Jaccarius Peak

Jacarrius Peak (NC State Athletics)

South Carolina has capped a successful Thursday on the free agent market by reaching contract terms with OT Jacarrius Peak (6-4 285) of NC State. Peak visited South Carolina on Wednesday. He also considered offers from Alabama and Ole Miss. Peak is a native of Valdosta, GA who spent three seasons with the Wolfpack. According to PFF, Peak had an 83.7 pass-blocking grade this season. PFF named him to its All-ACC Team. He was named Honorable Mention on the official All-ACC Team released by the league. Peak is the third free agent to come to contract terms with the Gamecocks on Thursday, their seventh overall and third for the offensive line.

AS A RS-SOPHOMORE (2024):

• Tied as the top grader on the line in five games last season: WCU, Northern Illinois, Wake Forest, Syracuse and UNC. 

• Graded out at 96% vs. the Orange.

• Ranked second on the Wolfpack squad in pancakes with 54. 

• Started every game of the regular season at right tackle, he got the nod at right tackle in the bowl game. 

• Has added almost 30 lbs. since arriving on campus.


AS A RS-FRESHMAN (2023):

• Young offensive lineman who started at RT in the last six games of the season – five of those six contests were Wolfpack wins.

• Tallied eight pancakes in the win at Wake.

• Made 32 pancake blocks in the last five games of the season.

• Notched five Raleigh Railroads in the win over UNC.

• Elite grader vs. Miami and UNC.

• In for a career-high 81 snaps vs. Virginia Tech.

• Also saw action at tight end, he wore No. 46 when he came in at that position. 

• Earned the team’s Alpha Rising Award for Most Improved Player, he also earned the Jim Ritcher Award for most valuable offensive lineman.


AS FRESHMAN (2022):

• Enrolled at NC State in June of 2022, he did not see action.


HIGH SCHOOL:

• Played both offensive guard and tackle at Valdosta High School for coach Shelton Felton.

• Senior Stats: Team finished 4-6.

• Junior Stats: Team turned in an 8-4 record and advanced to the Georgia 6A state semifinals.

• Rankings: Ranked as the No. 18 inside offensive lineman nationally and the No. 37 player in the state of Georgia by 247Sports.


PERSONAL:

• Also played basketball and was on the track & field team. Averaged 5.9 points and 4.1 rebounds on the hardwood, and finished second at the state championship in the shot put and seventh in the discus as a junior.

• Major: Sport management

• Appeared on the Netflix show “Titletown” while in high school.
