STRecruiting Notebook 1-2: Irmo DE Jaiden Bryant set to announce on Saturday; More visits from transfers announced for USC and Clemson

Irmo DE Jaiden Bryant has moved up his commitment timeline and will make his announcement on Saturday afternoon during the broadcast of the Under Armour All-American Game. Bryant revealed a final list of Clemson, LSU, Texas A&M, Miami, Georgia and Alabama. South Carolina had also been among his favorites, but when defensive ends coach Sterlilng Lucas left for LSU, that shifted his focus to the Tigers. He made multiple game visits to USC this past season. He also went to games at Clemson, LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida State and Miami.

Reported Portal official visits for Clemson

DT Kourtney Kelly (6-2 280) of West Georgia. He’s a native of Carrollton, GA He has scheduled official visits to Clemson for Monday and to Kentucky on Wednesday. This past season he had 18 tackles, eight tackles for loss and five sacks. He has three years left.

From Pete Nakos: SAF Lyrik Rawls (6-1 205) of Kansas. He spent three seasons at Oklahoma State and this past season with the Jayhawks. For his career, he has 138 tackles with 11 pass deflections and three interceptions. This past season he had 72 tackles with seven pass breakups and one interception. Grayson Mann of TigerNet reported the Clemson visit will be January 10th. Rawls also plans to visit Arizona State and Duke.

From Chris Hummer: OT Johnnie Brown (6-3 315) of Georgia Southern. He is scheduled to visit Louisville and West Virginia this weekend and Clemson on Monday. He’s a native of Lilburn, GA and went to Parkview High School, where Clemson has recruited successfully in the past. He did not play in any games at Miami nor in his first season at Georgia Southern where he joined as a walk-on and later earned a scholarship. He played in all 13 games this season with 35 snaps on offense and 58 snaps on special teams.

Reported Portal official visits for USC

From Josh Edwards: TCU RB Nate Palmer (6-0- 190) of TCU. He is scheduled to visit USC starting on Saturday. As a redshirt freshman at TCU this season, he had 30 carries for 139 yards and did not score a touchdown.

From Hayes Fawcett: OG Brendan Black (6-4 320) of Iowa State. He is scheduled to visit Nebraska this weekend and the Gamecocks on January 7th.  He started ten games at right guard this season for the Cyclones and played in all twelve games. In 2024 he made 13 starts at right guard and in 2023 he made seven.

From Brandon Hoffman: TE Dorian Thomas (6-4 240) of New Mexico. He is scheduled to visit Cal on Friday and UCLA on Saturday. He is also set to visit Florida, and a potential to South Carolina exists as well. He’s a native of Kent, WA. In his freshman season with the Lobos, Thomas had 56 catches for 560 yards and four touchdowns.

From Chris Hummer: OC and OT DJ Chester (6-6 315) of LSU. He plans to take visits to USC, Baylor, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State. In three seasons at LSU he played in 24 games and started 14. He was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team in 2024. He’s a native of Conyers, GA who was recruited by the Gamecocks out of high school and made a couple of visits.

From Gamecock Central: WR Jayden Gibson (6-5 197) of Oklahoma. He was recruited by South Carolina when Justin Stepp was the receivers coach. He originally committed to Florida before signing with Oklahoma. He’s a native of Apopka, FL. He played in 2022 games with the Sooners in 2022 and 2023 and caught 15 passes for 387 yards and five touchdowns. He missed all of 2024 with a knee injury. A setback in his recovery kept him off the field the first part of this season, and in mid-October coach Brent Venables announced he was no longer with the program. Wisconsin is also involved.

Bowling Green TE Jacob Harris will take visits to South Carolina and Wisconsin. This season he had 19 catches for 182 yards and five touchdowns.

Other Notes

Per Hayes Fawcett, Clemson is in the mix for Southern Cal DL transfer Devan Thompkins along with Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and Ohio State.

Coastal Carolina LB Nate Gregory and reserve quarterbacks MJ Morris and Jon Hunt are transferring. Hunt is a Dutch Fork grad who began his career at ETSU. Morris began his career at NC State.

Charleston Southern transfer OT Andrew Threatt plans to visit North Carolina on Saturday.

Wofford transfer SAF CJ Coombes was offered Friday by Coastal Carolina. He will visit North Texas January 4th and is also drawing interest from UCF, Delaware and Arkansas State.
