STRecruiting Notebook December 31st: Another USC OL hits the Portal; Another DE offer out by Barnes; Some top targets reveal favorites at Under Armour AA check-in

South Carolina OL Boaz Stanley is transferring after one season according to Gamecock Central. Stanley came in from Troy played in all 12 games this season, starting nine between center and offensive guard. He’s the 6th offensive lineman to transfer out since the end of the season.

South Carolina reserve OL Rodney Newsom is transferring again. He spent one season with the Gamecocks after starting his career at Memphis before moving on to Western Kentucky. He played in 11 games this season for the Gamecocks starting three.

USC CB Myles Norwood is reportedly planning to transfer. He spent one season with the Gamecocks after transferring in from Ball State. He started his career at Iowa State. This season he made 19 tackles with no interceptions nor pass break ups.

South Carolina LB Taeshawn Alston is transferring He redshirted this season as a freshman

As of Wednesday, 13 Gamecocks will be in the Portal when it opens on Friday:

Clemson SAF Rob Billings is transferring. In three seasons he played in 32 games and totaled 7 tackles.

One-time Clemson target WR Andre Green Jr. is transferring from Virginia. Injuries limited him to three games this season. He spent two seasons with the Cavs after two seasons at UNC. He camped a Clemson in 2021 and was offered. He has 15 catches for 124 yards and 1 TD in his career.

Furman WR Jackets Hamilton is transferring. He had 40 catches for 545 yards and five touchdowns this season and has two years left.

Furman TE Joshua Burrell, a Blythewood grad, is transferring as a grad student. He started his career at Florida State. This season he had 36 catches for 290 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Furman TE Luke Clyburn is transferring. He had 10 catches for 88 yards this season.

Furman OL Eli Brasher is transferring.

Former Clemson WR Troy Stellato is transferring from Kentucky.

Blythewood native DT Sterling Sanders is transferring from Boston College. He was a freshman there this season and played in one game, so he has four years left. He originally committed to Georgia Southern in high school. He did not have a USC or Clemson offer.

RB Turbo Richard, a Northwestern grad, is transferring from Boston College. He’s rushed for over 1027 yards and 11 touchdowns in his two seasons with the Eagles.

Beaufort High grad DT Eamon Smalls is transferring from UAB after three seasons in which he totaled 70 tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss and one sack. He redshirted as a freshman after playing in four games and has two seasons left. He did not draw a USC or Clemson offer in high school.

LSU center DJ Chester of McDonough, GA is transferring. He was offered by Clemson and South Carolina for the 2023 class, but he did not have either on his short list at the end.

One time Clemson and South Carolina target WR Noah Rogers is transferring from NC State after two seasons. He signed with Ohio State in 2023 and had Clemson in his final five. He camped with the Tigers and took an official visit. The Gamecocks were also among his offers.

Gaffney native DE Nate Johnson (6-6 225) could be a Portal watch for South Carolina and Clemson. He was a standout for two seasons at App State but only played in 9 games at Mizzou this season

New South Carolina defensive ends coach Deion Barnes offered DE Mekai Brown (6-7 230) of Greenwich CT. This season Brown had 68 tackles with 11 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. He also has offers from Michigan, Southern Cal, Penn State, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Auburn, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Indiana, Ohio State, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Florida, Pitt, Syracuse and others.

The Under Armour All-American Game is Saturday, and at the check-in on Tuesday, some USC and Clemson targets shared their favorites’ list and/or January visits with the writers:

CB Joshua Dobson of Catawba Ridge said South Carolina, Tennessee, LSI and Notre Dame will be four of the programs on his upcoming short list.

Rivals reported Clemson in top three with Georgia and Ohio State for TE Grant Haviland of Milton, GA, Irmo OT Nate Carson called Alabama & Tennessee his top two, and Irmo DE Jaiden Bryant favors LSU with Sterling Lucas now coaching there.

LB Kaden Henderson of Tampa told Rivals he will attend the Clemson junior day on March 7th.

Clemson and South Carolina target OT Carter Jones was offered by the new Penn State staff.

SAF Davion Jones of Charlotte named South Carolina, LSU, Tennessee and Georgia as his current top four, with LSU the leader at this point.

South Carolina target DE Santana Harvey of Lakeland, FL was offered by Kentucky.

Hammond LB Jackson Ross was offered by Virginia Tech.

WR Aden Starling of Houston, who has a South Carolina offer, was offered by Kentucky.
