USC is losing its first defensive back to the transfer portal as Myles Norwood is reportedly heading out of town. Hayes Fawcett of On3Sports tweeted out the news on Saturday afternoon.
Norwood, who actually began his career as a track and field athlete at Iowa Western Community College in 2021, had two starts and played in 10 games this year for the Gamecocks. He tallied 19 tackles, though his tackling grade of 55 was the lowest of any South Carolina cornerback, according to Pro Football Focus. The St. Louis native allowed 15 catches for 171 yards but didn’t allow a touchdown and didn’t record a pass breakup.
Norwood is the 10th USC scholarship player who’ll enter the transfer portal and the first defensive back. The Gamecocks were already losing veterans Jalon Kilgore, DQ Smith, and Brandon Cisse to the NFL Draft.
The transfer portal is set to open on January 2nd.
