RB Caden Waye (5-11 205) of McDonough, GA, will be one of the most sought after running backs in Georgia for the 2027 recruiting campaign. Count South Carolina among the teams in hot pursuit.

“They’ve been recruiting for about four or five months,” Waye said.  “They offered me last spring.  I’ve been having constant communication with them ever since.  I went out there for a spring visit, and then I went back for a game day visit.  I got to meet with a lot of the coaches.  I met with Coach Beamer multiple times.  I’ve been talking with Coach (Shane) Beamer a lot.  They are great guys.”

Waye visited the Gamecocks for the first time last April. He returned for the Clemson game late last month, and that was his first game day experience inside Williams-Brice Stadium.

“I was very impressed,” Waye said.  “The energy, the atmosphere, the crowd, everything was pretty good.  I liked it.  They are definitely going to be an option for me and in the mix.  I like them a lot.”

Waye also attended games this season at Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, Florida, Florida State and others. Additionally, he’s been offered by Penn State, Kentucky, Stanford, Missouri, Notre Dame, Purdue, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Auburn, Michigan, Duke, Southern Cal, Indiana and others.

Waye said he will name a top 12 in a couple of weeks, and he expects South Carolina to be on the list. Next will come some junior day visits and spring visits. He will then narrow his list to six and decide on his official visits.

Waye said South Carolina, Ohio State, Texas and Tennessee have been on him pretty hard, and he gives Ohio State an edge on the field at this point.

This season, Waye rushed for 838 yards and 15 touchdowns. In his career he has rushed for 1567 yards and 19 touchdowns.
