STRecruiting: Relationship with Clemson continuing to grow for Byrnes wide receiver Chanin Harris

2027 WR Chanin Harris (6-1 170) of Byrnes has been busy. He has been a steady riser within the 2027 class, and was a massive reason for the Rebels’ success during the 2025 season. On the field, Harris helped lead the Rebels to the state quarterfinals, where Byrnes eventually fell to Dutch Fork. Off the field, his recruitment has gained plenty of momentum, including his relationship with Clemson.

For Clemson’s home finale against Furman, Harris took in the sights and sounds of a game at Death Valley, gaining a deeper understanding of what the program is all about. Amid a subpar season, the wide receiver was impressed with the Tigers’ fanbase, seeing the crowd roaring on each down, supporting their team no matter what.

“This really shows me that the fans are a loyal fanbase,” Harris explained. “That is something that means a lot to me because even though you aren’t in the best position, the fans still support.”

Receivers coach Tyler Grisham has been actively building a strong relationship with the in-state prospect. During his time with Grisham at Dabo Swinney’s summer camp, the energy that was on display made a significant impression on Harris that has continued to this day.

When the pair reunited, that spark was back.

“I wanted to get up to a game, and Coach Grisham was excited that I was coming,” he said. “My relationship has grown a lot, and being able to visit campus was just amazing. I think that my relationship with Coach Grisham is pretty good. His energy is something that really stands out.”

As of right now, Harris hasn’t made any plans to return to Clemson in the offseason, and is holding out for what could be Grisham’s fourth offer to a wide receiver in the 2027 class, with Trey Wimbley being the newest addition to the Tigers’ big board.

Harris currently holds offers from Wake Forest, Boston College, Howard, Charlotte, and other programs.

During the 2025 season, Harris hauled in 44 passes for 648 yards with seven touchdowns.
