Regardless of what happens the next couple of weeks, we know the Palmetto State will have at least one baseball team in the World Series. On Tuesday, the Florence-Darlington Tech Stingers picked up a 7-6 win over Harford to claim the East District title and a berth in next week’s Juco World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. For the Stingers, it will be their second straight trip to the World Series, having placed fourth in the event last year. It’s also the program’s fourth trip to the World Series, with FDTC having competed in 2017 and 2021.
After the championship game, head coach Preston McDonald visited SportsTalk to recap his team’s come-from-behind win over the Fighting Owls and to discuss the consistency that his program has displayed over the past decade.
